Ficus lyrata
KShs1,500 – KShs3,500
A hugely ‘on trend’ plant for good reason, the Fiddle leaf fig has beautiful large violin shaped leaves and will grow (with some training) to become a stunning indoor tree. Even juvenile plants add a statement to a smaller room with the texture and size of their leaves making them a popular choice at any size.
Some find these plants tricky, others a breeze. The Fiddle leaf fig needs you to stick to her schedule so is better with a plant parent who won’t be phased by her drama.
Water & Humidity: Let top of potting mix dry out between watering, ensure the soil is never soggy. The Ficus lyrata likes a consistent watering schedule so avoid extremes to ensure plant happiness. Mist occasionally and more frequently (a few times a week) if hot.
Light: Filtered sun.
Tip: Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to ensure they are free of dust and try not to move once you have found a suitable space in your home – this is not a natural nomad.
Recommended Placement: The height of a Fiddle leaf fig makes them a great choice for larger living rooms, entryways or stairways with good light.
